Customizing your theme

Click Customize on a theme in Website → Themes to open it in the builder. Customizing a library theme doesn't change your live site until you publish it.

What you can change

  • Templates: the starting layouts for your page types (home, pages, practice areas, blog, articles, sign-in pages, 404). The builder lists which pages follow each template.
  • Header and footer: shared by every page.
  • Theme settings: for example colour schemes, fonts, text size, page width, corner radius, section spacing, button style and custom CSS. The settings available depend on the theme. Your logo, favicon and social links are firm details, set in General settings, so they stay when you switch themes.
  • History: every saved and published version. Restore an earlier one if you need to.

Select a section to change its settings and blocks, Add section, drag to reorder, or remove one.

Colour schemes

Many themes use colour schemes: named sets of colours (background, text, buttons…) that each section picks, so text stays readable on any background. Edit a scheme to recolour every section using it, or Add scheme. Deleting a scheme moves its sections to the default scheme.

Animations

Every section has an Animation setting: none, fade in, fade up, zoom in, or slide in from the start or the end. Stagger blocks reveals the section's items one after another instead. Under Theme settings → Motion, set Animations to Off, Subtle or Expressive and whether pages cross-fade (Page transitions). Animations always stay off for visitors who ask their device for reduced motion.

Saving and publishing

On your live theme, Save draft keeps your changes without showing them; Publish puts them live. On a library theme, Save keeps your changes, and they go live when you publish the theme.
