What clients see
Clients only ever see what's theirs. Signed in, a client sees:
| Page | What's there |
|---|---|
| Overview | Documents you've asked for, latest messages, recently shared documents and their open matters. |
| Matters | The matters they're a client on. Each shows its documents, invoices, document requests, and a way to message you about it. |
| Invoices | Invoices billed to them that have been sent, paid or cancelled. Drafts and invoices awaiting approval never show. They can download the PDF, and Pay online if you've set up online payments. |
| Payments | Their payments. |
| Documents | Documents you've shared with them, always the latest version. PDFs and images open with View; everything can be downloaded. Documents you've asked them to sign are listed at the top under Waiting for your signature. |
| Requests | Documents you've asked them for. See Document requests. |
| Messages | Their conversations with your firm. See Portal messages. |
| Settings | Their name, photo and password, a copy of their data, and deleting their account. |
They never see your notes, logged communications, unshared documents, time entries or other clients' records. Every view and download they make is recorded in the audit trail.
Emails clients get
Clients are emailed when you invite them, request a document, accept or reject an upload, send a portal message, send an invoice, take a payment (a receipt), cancel an emailed invoice or make a refund you choose to tell them about. Emails about messages never include the message itself: the client signs in to read it.
