Turning on the client portal
The client portal is a private area on your firm's website where clients sign in to follow their matters, pay invoices, download documents you share, upload documents you ask for and message you. It needs a plan that includes the client portal.
Turn it on
- Open Firm settings → General.
- Under Client portal, switch on Turn on the client portal and save.
The portal is off for every firm until someone turns it on. While it's off, nobody can sign in and your website hides its sign-in links.
Turning the portal on doesn't let anyone in by itself. Each client needs their own access: see Giving clients access.
Where clients find it
Clients sign in on your website (for example your-firm.mattersimple.com), with the sign-in link in your site's header, and their portal pages are under /account. Your theme decides how the sign-in and invitation pages look.
There's no public sign-up: clients only join by invitation.
