Giving clients access
Access is given per contact, person or company, from the contact's Portal access card. You need the Manage portal accounts permission.
Invite a client
- Open the contact. Make sure their primary email is right: it's the address they'll sign in with.
- On the Portal access card, click Invite to portal.
The client gets an email with a link to your site, where they choose a password and accept your terms. The link works for 7 days. If it expires, the card says Invitation expired: click Send invitation again.
Access states
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| No access | Never invited. |
| Invited | Invitation sent, not accepted yet. |
| Invitation expired | The link ran out before they used it. |
| Active | They can sign in. |
| Revoked | You've taken their access away. |
Revoke and restore
Click Revoke access to stop a client using the portal. They're signed out on their next click and can't sign in until you click Restore access. Their account and history are kept.
Changing their email
A client signs in with their contact's primary email. If you change it on the contact, their sign-in email changes too.
Portal accounts
Contacts & Clients → Portal accounts lists every client account, when they joined, and their data requests. See Client data requests.
