Client data requests
Under privacy laws such as the GDPR, your firm is responsible for your clients' personal data. Clients with a portal account can download or delete their own data from their portal Settings. You can also do it for them.
- Open Contacts & Clients → Portal accounts (or Firm settings → Privacy, then Go to Portal accounts).
- Find the client.
- Choose Export data to download a copy of their account data, or Erase to delete their portal account.
Erasing a portal account can't be undone. It anonymises the account (name, email, photo and sign-in), and deletes any website enquiries sent from that email. It doesn't delete the contact or your firm's records about them, such as matters and invoices, which you may need to keep for legal and accounting reasons.
A client who exports their own data gets an email with a download link.
