Conflict checks on matters

Automatic checks

When a matter is created or edited, Mattersimple checks its clients and related contacts automatically. It creates one conflict check named "Matter {number} parties", with a search for each client and related contact not already searched on that matter, labelled with their role. Everyone who runs conflict checks (and the firm owner) is notified to review it; the person who saved the matter isn't.

Run a check from a matter

  1. On the matter, click Run conflict check on its conflict checks card.
  2. Choose the matter's contacts to search (Select all picks everyone) and click Next.
  3. The new check opens with a search for each contact filled in. Add or change searches and click Run search.

A matter's conflict state

Each matter shows a conflict state, worked out from the checks linked to it:

State When
Not checked No check is linked to the matter.
Conflicted Any linked check's overall status is Conflict.
Conflict check pending Any linked check is still unreviewed, needs review or is undetermined.
No conflicts Every linked check found no conflict.

The state is a warning only: it never stops you working on the matter. Filter the Matters list by conflict state to find matters that still need a check.
