The calendar
The Calendar brings together three kinds of entries:
- Events you add: meetings, deadlines, hearings and more. See Events.
- Task due dates.
- Statutes of limitations on matters, until they're marked satisfied.
You only see entries you're allowed to: events you created or attend, events on matters you can see (unless they're private), tasks you can see and statutes on matters you can see.
Views and filters
- Switch between Month, Week, Day and Agenda, and move with Previous, Today and Next, or jump to a date.
- Mine shows your own entries; All I can see shows everyone's.
- Show on the calendar picks which kinds of entries to show, and the type filter narrows events to deadlines, hearings, court dates, filings, depositions, meetings or other (Show every type clears it).
Each matter also has a Calendar tab showing only that matter's entries.
Times and your firm's timezone
All times are shown on your firm's clock (set in General settings), wherever you are.
Moving entries
Drag an event to a new time, or drag its edge to change how long it lasts, if you're allowed to edit it. Repeating events can't be dragged: edit them instead.
Subscribing from your phone or calendar app
You can see your Mattersimple calendar in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook, next to your personal one. It shows your own calendar: events you created or attend, tasks you created or are assigned, and statutes of limitations on matters you lead, from 90 days ago to about a year ahead. Each entry names its matter's number.
- On Calendar, click Subscribe.
- Click Create my subscription link, then copy the link.
- Add it to your calendar app:
- Google Calendar: Other calendars → + → From URL, paste the link and click Add calendar.
- Apple Calendar: File → New Calendar Subscription, paste the link.
- Outlook: Add calendar → Subscribe from web, paste the link.
The subscription is read-only: change entries in Mattersimple, and Apple Calendar and Outlook pick them up within about 15 minutes (in Apple Calendar, the subscription's Auto-refresh setting can make it more often). Google Calendar checks subscribed calendars on its own schedule, often only every few hours, and can't be made to check sooner. Clicking an entry's link opens it in Mattersimple.
Treat the link like a password: anyone who has it can see your calendar. If it gets out, click Make a new link (the old one stops working) or Turn off. The link also stops working if you leave the firm.
